Excitement

I find myself getting caught up finally in the World Cup Football Hype. YAY. I felt a gurgle of excitement deep within last weekend when they unveiled the TICKETS, crazy but there you go. The gurgle grew into a rumble when the Ticketing Centre's opened. Today I had Tuck Shop Duty, only once every three weeks, and I arrived to find three of the other Mums in Football shirts taking part in the Football Fridays Project. What a thrill, it made everything real and the kids love seeing us being part of the action. Fifa sent me a message to wait till after 3rd of May before collecting my tickets to avoid the mad rush. I am like a horse waiting to get out of the gate, I want my tickets and I want them now LOL. Its going to be fabulous and I can really say "I WAS THERE".

Life is interesting right now.

I find myself in a continuous battle with my ears at the moment. Most times I can hardly hear what anyone is saying and as I keep saying pardon, I can picture myself holding a ear Horn or whatever they are called and I just want to burst into laughter. Obviously it isn't funny to the person talking to me and I am either constantly trying to keep a freakishly straight face or apologising. It makes for interesting days right now.
Working by oneself is quite an interesting phenomenon. When you start to breathe funny because thats all you can hear. Its definitely time to turn on the radio, which I constantly forget to do. People are asking me if I am lonely all the time. I say no just some times, but I quite like the sound of my breathing so its actually okay.

Car Blues

Ugh tonight I get home and get the three kids in the car and whizz off to the petrol station (gas station) to fill up. Thought about putting supper on before I left but decided against it. Thank goodness.
Get to the pump, fill up, try start the car. NOTHING NADA not even a little growl comes from the engine, its like an Alien ship came down and zapped my car. Wonderful.
So we get my jumper cables out and hook this dude in a bakkie to help start the car. NOPE not having it. So we push it out the way,try phone Martyn, not answering,so I phone Renault. They will send someone out, I dont really have a choice I know its going to cost me, but what do I do, three kids in car, no shoes on (them) cold outside, could walk it but still have my briefcase to carry and Hannah and I cant put the window up. Anyway they send someone, finally Martyn ends his meeting and answers. He arrives 5 minutes after the Technician. He reckons its battery. So he replaces it, car only starts on the second turn so we'll see tomorrow. So my good deed to save time in the morning put me out an hour and half at crucial supper and bedtime.Oy Vey.

What a day

So I have been in training the whole week. Took the morning off on Monday for Luke's sports day. He did well, took part in everything and had fun and thats all that matters in my opinion. Didnt get many photos as my camera doesnt zoom that far unfortunately but here is one of him and his class mates.

Then today was Adams Concert, bless him, he sang like a little Angel, no idea where he gets that from. Got some good video of him, but its too big to put on here or send by email. So after the concert I go to work and literally 40 minutes later I get a call from the school, saying Adam has fallen out of a tree and his collar bone looks suspect. So we collect the poor thing and whip him off to xrays and the doctor and yes its confirmed he has fractured his collar bone (clavicle). So he is in a sling for the next two weeks. Luckily its school holiday break on Friday for a week. So at least then he will be mostly over the first week of pain then.
So here is a pic of Adam with his Dad looking not too bad. Painkillers are wonderful things.

They reckon he will have the sling for two weeks and then be careful for up to 6months before as strong as it was before. Will keep you posted.
Had lots of photos from the weekend but no time so will try and get them up with posts over this weekend.

Friday again geez where does the time go

Well I cannot believe that its Friday again, the days and weeks are just flying by and its freaking me out. So much to do, so little time. My kids are already talking about Christmas and presents. Spring is definitely here, although the mornings are still crisp but the days are warmer and its evident by the way people are dressing. Got a busy weekend, I am hosting a table at Adam's schools annual Ladies Spring Tea. Should be fun, but its a lot of work, thankfully a good friend is helping me out with the prep. Its a great excuse though to get together with friends that I dont see often and have a good natter.
Hannah is babbling away now ten to the dozen, chatter chatter chatter. Not all the words are comprehensible though mainly the ones at the beginning and the end LOL.
So a busy weekend but I hope it doesn't fly past too quickly either.
Have a good one.

Reflections

13 September

So i am sitting here today feeling like i have a hangover. I don't but I feel terrible. Its like my body hasnt caught up with my head or the other way round. Hannah had me up and down last night eventually I realise its because the cat was trying to get in, so decided that to get some action she would wake my daughter who would then wake me. Well it worked. When I finally realised this i had been up three times. Needless to say the cat got it big time when i let her in. So lack of sleep makes me feel really crappy and i desperately need chocolate right now to get me moving. I know its not the answer, but it will help.
So I see the need today to have some quiet time, chances are its not going to happen.
Anyhoo just realised that its almost a year since I posted here, not good. Life has been busy thats for sure.
HOpefully I am back into it, but give me a chance.

It must be something in the water.

I have no idea whats going on but Luke has suddenly just sprouted madly.
He woke me up on Sunday morning and I noticed that his pj's sleeve cuff was almost half way up his arm. Now bearing in mind that they are Age 6 which he is, my word. I then looked carefully at his clothes and he looks like he is wearing Adams clothing and not his own LOL. Thank goodness I havent bought him any school clothing yet in advance, heck. I will probably have to wait till the last minute.
Scary stuff.
The weekend was good I purposly didnt go to the shops, we chilled and it was awesome.
They swam on Sunday when the weather was nice. I cant as I have Hannah to watch, the pool temp is already at 24 deg C which is nice. Hannah is desperate to get moving, she is very adept at pulling herself up now on things, couches, chairs etc. And she can get back down without just falling, she goes down slowly on her haunches which is brilliant. It wont be long I tell you before she is running around. YIKES.

Lukes Graduation from Kindergarten

We are back

Yep we are back from our Holiday and finally making an effort to post.
I cant believe actually that we have been back over two weeks now nearly three, seems like forever ago. We had a wonderful time and the kids were very good on the flight. I was complimented by both passengers and airline staff so I was feeling very proud I must say.
We had a lovely time and just wish it hadnt been soo short.
We are back in the grind of life though and the time is just moving along too quickly. Martyn is working away again, which makes life interesting. I get more help on the airlines than I do at home, so right now flying is preferable to being at home LOL.
The children have settle back into school. Luke has had his graduation concert to end Pre-school and they are knuckling down now to complete their curriculum before they end the year on December the 2nd. He did well in the concert, remembered all his lines and song must say I think he is quite the little actor LOL.
Adam is Adam LOL, funny onion he has perked up in the last couple of months and is chatting a lot more which is nice, cause he comes out with some real humdingers LOL.
Hannah is doing great, she has 6 teeth now, is crawling all over the place and has found my tupperware cupboard in which she takes great delight. She is also pulling herself up on things and starting to move along tentatively. She is a cutie pie and gives us funny toothy smiles when she is happy and sees you which is almost all the time.
Here are some pics

Weather Pixie just cracks me up

BowersNewsSo just checking my blog for responses and I notice the weather pixie staring out at me LOL. She has on a sleeveless tank top and the sun is shining how nice.
Okay reality. Yes the sun is shining but flippen 19deg C here is not warm by any means and if I just take a quick peak at what everyone is wearing here today well it should give you some idea. I have boots, jeans, sweater and thermal vest. Most of my colleagues have closed shoes, sweaters some even have a jacket on. So yeah dont believe everything you see.
My feet are freezing.

Birthdays, weekends and stuff

Okay so on Friday it was my birthday well I was blessed by message of good will from my family and friends and recieved some lovely pressies. The day itself though was odd. I should have realised that it was going to be that way when the first thing I did on Friday morning was drop the cornflake canister on the kitchen floor by accident. You have no idea how far those flakes can travel. Try it its fun especially when your six year old comes in and thinks cornflakes make a cool sound when you stomp on them. Well I managed to clean them up without losing my rag thankfully. But yeah I should have realised. Well work was busy but it was with all those niggly things that irritate you ugh. I couldnt wait to leave. I got home and relaxed with friends popping in and out. It was nice.
Saturday was cold and wet so we stayed at home it was relaxing, I did do stuff, but I cant for the life of me remember what LOL. Sunday we popped to shop for a few groceries and then I made lunch and put some of Hannahs things away and got her new sleepers out. I didnt think they would fit as well as they do, obviously her others were way to small and I was just in denial. I also popped in at Naartjie a baby/kiddie clothing shop/boutique and bought some winter stuff on sale for Hannah. Its still cold here right through to November so even though she has a good wardrobe for 6-12 months its mostly summery stuff. She does have more than enough though as I have been given so much too from other moms, whose princesses have outgrown their things. I cleaned the pool a bit. Just put a salt chlorinater and new pump in. Then took some photos of Hannah. Martyn is still away and it sucks.

Stuff

So its a slow day here in Africa. Its raining and for a change the weather is acting like it really is winter. I am telling you thats why we get sick all the time. I mean today its cold 14deg C and raining. They are predicting snow on the mountains close by so it means real temps of more like 7deg tomorrow. Now just on Saturday gone the 29th of July the mercury rose to 28deg C yes you read it right. How is it possible to have such extremes you ask. Dunno, you are asking the wrong person. But thats why we get sick, germs really thrive in this kind of climate.
So Adam and Hannah both have a cold. Ugh so frustrating.
Really busy at the moment. With the other half working away, its me, myself and I and I do my best not to have pity parties too regularly. Seriously we are actually coping okay. They boys have been really good which I knew they would be. So I am just waffling but anyway. We are all really excited about our little trip, I really am looking forward to seeing my Nanna again. Anyway I was looking through Hannahs cupboard cause she is starting to move into next clothes size and to start off with she has more than enough. Its sad though having to put her small stuff away. Sniff Sniff.
Luke is into: Lets tell Mom something but include the tiniest detail so that it takes HOURS to tell her. Adam still copies everything Luke does, naturally. Wait that means Hannah will probably copy both of them. That should be fun. M should be home around 9th of August through to the 14th I have a hair appointment on the 12th and let me tell you how much I am looking forward to those two hours of peace and quiet. I cannot wait.
Anyway enough for today.

Ahoy me hearties,.....

Well with all the hype about the new "Pirates of the Carribean" movie coming out/or out. Some of the moms at the school are having pirate parties for the kids. Luke has been invited to two such parties and they have had to dress up. The first one was at the weekend and Adam was invited along. Got them all dressed up and they loved every minute of it. Will post this photo tomorrow as well. I am painful arnt I. I must say they looked the part and they are looking forward to dressing up for the next one. They havent seen either movie and probably wont either till they are old enough. No go and walk the plank I say........

Its been awhile....

Yep I know, sorry guys, just dont seem to get the time anymore.
My beautiful Hannah is 6months old today, I cannot believe how time has flown and it really just isnt fair. She is doing so well, has two bottom front teeth. She can sit, with just the odd topple which is brilliant. She loves her brothers to bits and just lights up when they come and talk to her. Even Adam has now warmed to her and spends a lot of time talking and smiling hence why she has a cold. For some reason Adam has colds continuously and it drives me barmy. Well Hannah has picked one up from him now and bless her didnt sleep much last night because of it. Stuffy nose and all. She goes for her six month checkup on Friday so will check with Ped if it hasnt cleared by then. I need to take some photos of her today. My life is not my own at the moment.

Gifts and update

Hi all. Well we received a lovely gift from a friend near Chicago yesterday.
Linda thank you so much for the lovely stuff. We are thrilled, you spoilt Hannah and the boys and its much appreciated. Pic above of all the goodies.
Hannah is now 4 and a half weeks old, can you believe it.
In the photo attached she is wearing an outfit that Beth sent her 0-3 months and yes she fills it out LOL. Nothing wrong with Hannahs feeding I can tell just by that.
We have had some cold days lately which is freaky at this time of the year so she is getting to wear some stuff. What I am going to do is all the outfits she has I will take a photo of and then post so you can all see just how cute she is in the stuff you bought her.
Will try and update more often.

Fabulous Friends

I have a group of ladies, I have never had the pleasure of meeting although we chat online via email daily. We have been doing this for oh well since before our 5year olds were born.
They are a great bunch of ladies, they all have their special qualities and talents. One such lady is Kathy who is a dab hand at sewing and her speciality is Quilting which she loves. Anyhow I went to the post box and there was a parcel from Kathy. Inside was the cutest quilt. I loved it immediately and so did the boys and I am positive that baby girl will too. She was also very sweet and included two small presents for the boys. Pirate Lego and new Face Cloths, small crayons and paint. Thank you so much Kathy, you are soo sweet. Here are some pics showing off the quilt and the boys new wash cloths.

A Sheep and a Present

Okay so its been a while. Well nothing really newsworthy to report up till now. Luke had his nativity play last night and what a wonderful performance by all the children.
The play was done by two classes. A lot of the children that are graduating preschool this year and going to Proper school next year had most of the main parts. However all the children had something to say and sing so nobody was left out. As a result, Luke ended up being a Sheep and a Present. When they first got on stage Luke was doing this weird thing with his eyes like looking through binoculars. I asked him later and he said the lights were too bright bless him. LOL.

In the beginning when the shepherds see the star pointing to where baby Jesus is located he is a sheep and pretends to eat grass LOL.

Then later he changed to a present, he was Gold and had to say "I am Gold" LOL.

Straight after he sang a song, I cant actually remember for the life of me right this second (porridge brain) what the song was but there were three boys singing on their own mikes, and two of them had the giggles. Thankfully Luke managed to keep it together and sang throughout which was great.

Anyway he was brilliant all of the kids were brilliant and shame they had been practicing so hard and often (every day) for two weeks. I think the teachers were quite stressed on the night though, but they should be proud that it came off so well.

A Friend ties the knot

A good friend of mine who I have known ugh probably since 1992 finally got married to her long time Partner of ten years. The day dawned Saturday the 24th September 2005 beautiful, sunny and windless, which if you know P.E. is a godsend this time of year. The Bride was a fashionable/unfashionable 20 mins late Ha ha. She looked stunning and her dress was beautiful. A beautful shimmering Green. Their children 7 and 5 walked their mom (the bride) into the ceremony and led her to the podium where the Minister and her Partner where waiting. I of course being the emotional animal that I am balled my eyes out when she walked in, when they were pronounced man and wife and when her new Hubby said his speech.
I was just so happy for them both. The ceremony was beautiful, the company was excellent, the decor fantastic and the food scrumptious. All in all it was a wonderful day. Congrats Gilly I hope you both have a very long and happy marraige. Below are some pics, unfortunately we didnt get very many good ones, due to lighting.

Children walking her into the ceromony.
