Me

I realised sometime over this weekend, that I am doing myself an injustice by not blogging anymore.  I find it to be extremely therapeutic and it helps me categorise things that are happening in my life.   This helps me see them in a totally different light and i expect is similar to a journal really.   I am still not too sure how I feel about this sort of thing being in the public domain.  Will have to see how I go along.

Our family has been through a bit of a trial in terms of health and finance in the last few years and we are now only starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.   First hubby with his open heart surgery, his long recovery and his subsequently not having employment for 5 months.  A very dear friend took us under his wing as he has done with many others and helped get him gainful employement which helped keep the wolf from the door.

Since then that friend has passed on and his loss is sorely felt. However my hubby has since proved himself at the company and they have increased his salary to a level of which we can now breathe slightly easier.  My heartfelt thanks to our friend for his help and I only wish he was still here so that I can thank him properly and in person.   I do hope he is listening when I say my prayers.

So I am feeling very very thankful and grateful today for all that we have and all of our friends.   I know that we will be fine and we will carry on.   I am thankful for mine and my husbands health, my childrens health, the fact they all do so well at school and that they love going to it in the morning.  The fact that we both have good employment and that my Mom is coming out for a holiday at Christmas.   I am thankful for the time I get to spend with my children and that they still enjoy spending time with us too.    I am thankful that we have a home and food to eat.  I am thankful that I get to spend some of my spare time reading or knitting and doing embroidery.

I am also going to acknowledge the work i have done in those creative arena's and show it off, like the cross stitch picture that took me almost ten years to complete and yet I still haven't framed.  That is going to be corrected and I am going to show it off proudly.  Many hours of labour went into that and it shouldn't be kept in a dark cupboard.

I am thankful and I am happy.

There is one in every family

So we get a call today from the school to say that Adam has tripped on is shoelace and his wrist is very painful. So off we trot to Doc and then x-ray's to be told that yes he has cracked his wrist on the thumb side and that a tiny piece has chipped off. Nothing to worry about and won't need an operation but he is required to wear a splint for the next three weeks, so no sport, no swimming and of course its his writing hand too. Yay NOT.

So finally our constant pleas of "Tie your shoe laces, or you will trip" might actually now make sense to him.
This will be his second broken bone. He broke is collar bone falling out of a tree age 3.

A friend said to me, there is one in every family and ours is Adam.

Hmm Life

So Christmas is over for another year. My much anticipated Holiday (away from work) has come and gone and quite frankly I am not sure if I feel regenerated or not. I exchanged one work place for the other.

What I did enjoy was the looks on my childrens faces in anticipation of Christmas the joy as they opened their gifts and the pleasure they showed in playing with them. I vowed to spend more time with them and that I did. Unfortunately the weather didn't really play along this year and the first three weeks flew by in miserable but welcome (we are in the middle of a very bad drought)weather. We have dusted off the board games and card games and I have had fun playing Clue Junior, Pictionary, Snap and the like. I have made up a Hello Kitty Handbag that was bought for my daughter. She lost interest in the first five minutes. LOL.

The miserable weather, although kept us away from the promised early morning beach expeditions, got me doing my cross stitch with gusto. I am however still not finished the Christmas themed one. I will just pull it out again next year.

What I have done is pulled out a crochet hook LOL. A friend of mine in Canada has been gripped by the joys of knitting and Crocheting and is churning out things at a rapid rate of knots (pardon the pun). I am determined to get the hang of it and will post a pic when I do.

2011 has begun and I am still unsure of how I feel about the New Year as such.
I try not to make resolutions that I cannot and will not keep. So my main aim in life is this: Spend more quality time with my children. Not take on work that I shouldn't. Spend more quality time with my husband. Not to fret the small stuff (I am a worry wort) and get my vision board up. The years just seem to be passing me by and I am not sure that I am getting everything I should be out of them. So that is really the aim. QUALITY of LIFE for ME. Make everything count. I hope you do too.

Remembrance Day

In Flanders Fields By:
Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918) Canadian Army

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place;
and in the sky The larks,
still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead.
Short days ago We lived,
felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved,
and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep,
though poppies grow In Flanders fields.

Interesting Weekend

This weekend looked to be full of promise and I was really looking forward to it.
Saturday myself and two girlfriends attended a Miglio (Jewellery) Pink Breakfast in aid of Breast Cancer. Lovely morning in an idyllic setting saw us spoilt with gifts, lucky draws and not least a talk by a Young woman,, who has battled and beaten Breast Cancer. It's always nice to hear these talks, because they sort of give you a wake up call. LIVE NOW. Don't wait. It reminds me of that Erma Bombeck poem, don't keep the best for special occassions, every day is a special occassion. I want to live my life like that and I know that I have a friend who Definitely lives her life like that. I want to be like her, and I think that is why I try and cram so much into my time. I don't want to waste a minute of it.

Saturday afternoon we were posed with the problem that due to something with the Alarm, someone had to be in the house at all times over the weekend. So today, even though I was looking forward to watching my boys take part in their first Nippers competition (albeit a fun one) it is not to be. We were also all going to attend the Cricket this afternoon as a family and dress up in our Halloween gear. This is also not to be. So M is going to take the boys and Hannah(she is so excited) and I will spend some time doing some painting of tree decorations that we bought at the Christmas Market on Friday and I will get stuck into my cross stitch again. It is looking really nice by the way and I cannot wait for it to be done so I can show it off.

So this weekend started off with a plan and the plan got relegated to the rubbish bin. It reminds me of that saying. Even the best laid plans of mice and men go array - John Steinbeck. Life is what happens while we are busy making plans. I think that one was God

Random Stuff

I have realised that as much as I am old school and love things like knitting and embroidery, I am also a super techno gadget girl LOL.

Since my last post I have finished the Cardigan for Hannah and have picked up my Christmas Cross Stitch again, Yay. I am currently on the third picture out of 12. Hmm a long way to go but its lovely and will be fabulous when its done. Twelve days of Christmas will be the finished product and yes its 1 month and 4 weeks till Christmas day so hopefully that will give me enough time to finish.

I also Poken, yes you read right Poken, the networking tool of those in the know. Its fabulous and allows me to have both my details for the BWA and for my Miglio Jewellery business which is great. I also Facebook and Blog. Its the way of the future.

So if someone comes up to you and asks "Do you Poken?" Try to be cool and don't punch their lights out.

Stop that Bus!

Is it too terrible to want to get off the Bus. Sometimes I think life is just running away from me at top speed. A bit like those supermums at the Sports day that leave you behind in a flash. Why is it so important to do everything quickly and last minute. I was listening to the radio today and they were talking about Technology and how it has changed everything including courtship. How, now you don't have to wait to find out if that someone special has a thing for you. ITS POSTED ALL OVER FACEBOOK. LOL.
I want the bus to at least stop to refuel. I want to take things slower. I want to enjoy my children while they are still children. I want to do my knitting and embroidery and puzzles, things that take time. I have a friend who speed reads. Now why on earth would you want to do that while trying to enjoy a novel.
I don't know really. Conductor! I am getting off. (Well just for a little while anyway.)
